Issue Resolution:

Option I:

Run the Pervasive application as an Administrator at the workstation.

    • Click Start, All Programs, Pervasive PSQL 11, Engines, Stop Workgroup Engine
    • Right click the Pervasive icon in the system tray by the clock, click “Stop Engines and Exit”
    • End the W3DBSMGR.exe process for Pervasive in Task Manager
  2. Start the Pervasive engine as administrator, do both of the following:
    • To ensure that the startup shortcut will start the application as administrator every time you start Windows: Start, All Programs, Startup, right click the “Start Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine” shortcut, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab and check the “Run this program as administrator”
    • To ensure that you can always start the engine as administrator: click Start, All Programs, Pervasive PSQL 11, Engines, right click the “Start Workgroup Engine” shortcut, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab and check the “Run this program as administrator” box, click OK. Then browse back to the shortcut and start the engine
  3. Verify you can now open the company file

Option II: Install the Pervasive Workgroup Engine as a service at the workstation.

Follow instructions for installing Pervasive as a service in “How do I manually install Pervasive PSQL version 11” in the Related Resources below.

Option III: The Pervasive Server or Workgroup Engine is corrupt.

  1. Verify the pervasive database engine can communicate across the network.  Refer to Related Resources:  “Error: “This program has quit. You cannot connect to the pervasive database engine. [TS 2695]” (Pervasive database engine cannot communicate across network)”
  2. If all workstations are affected the pervasive database engine on the server may be corrupt.  If the error is limited to one workstation the pervasive database engine on the workstation may be corrupt.   Refer to Related Resources:  “How do I uninstall Pervasive?” and  “How do I manually install Pervasive PSQL version 11?” for instruction to uninstall and reinstall the pervasive database engine on the server or workstation.
