Issue Resolution:

Section I: Stop and restart the Pervasive service:

  1. Click Start, Run and type services.msc. Click OK.
  2. Locate Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine.
  3. Right-click Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine.
  4. Click Stop.
  5. Right-click Pervasive PSQL Workgroup Engine.
  6. Click Start.
    Note: If you receive error 8591 when trying to restart Pervasive, open Task Manager and end process on w3dbsmgr.exe.
  7. After Pervasive has started, verify that you can launch Sage 50 without error.

Section II: Remove any lock files in the company data location (data path)

  1. Browse to the data path. See Article ID 10165: How to find data path and program path in Related Resources.
  2. Remove any files ending with the extension .LCK.
  3. Start Sage 50 and verify the program opens normally.

Section III: Reinstall the Pervasive Database Engine

  1. Uninstall Pervasive. See Article ID 10297: How do I manually uninstall Pervasive? in Related Resources.
  2. Install Pervasive. See Article ID 10113: How to manually install Pervasive in Related Resources.
